Haskell not in Highlanders for the money

12:25 pm on 3 November 2011

The general manager of the Highlanders says money wasn't what motivated England loose forward James Haskell to join the Super 15 side.

Coach Jamie Joseph revealed his final squad for next season on Wednesday and says the signing of the international is a little bit of a coup.

The Highlanders general manager Roger Clark says the franchise was limited by what money it could offer Haskell because they were down to securing players 29 and 30 and the way the salary budget works they get a set fee, which is the smallest.

He says that didn't deter Haskell and he's there for the right reasons.
