Herbert hopes draw turns season around

The Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert is hoping their 1-all draw at high-flying Brisbane last night will trigger a turnaround after a 3-match losing streak.

The Roar dominated the shots on goal to improve their unbeaten streak to 34 matches.

The under-strenght Phoenix were rank outsiders at Suncorp, but showed plenty of determination especially on defence to pick up a point.

Herbert labelled it as a "top-drawer performance" of great character by his side.... the Brazilian winger Daniel was injured during warmups and Herbert says everyone stepped up.

Captain Andrew Durante, who again led by example, says the boys gave everything and they thoroughly deserved to get something from the game.

Durante says they don't deserve to be where they are, second to bottom on the ladder, and to get a point on a ground where most teams get blown away showed how determined they were.

The Phoenix play 7th placed Adelaide at Eden Park next saturday.
