Peters vows party will contest next election

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters says his party will be back to contest the next election.

The party won 4.2% of the party vote, falling below the 5% threshold and, without any MPs securing electorate seats, lost its presence in Parliament.

Mr Peters says the make-up of the next government means his party's presence is needed more than ever.

He says New Zealand First will remember every promise that has been made and hold to account those who made them.
