Lincoln University's vice-chancellor has apologised for offence caused by students who dressed as Nazis and Jewish prisoners during party at the weekend.
The event was organised for the Halls of Residence to celebrate Oktoberfest, and has attracted criticism from the Jewish Council and the Lincoln University Students Association.
Vice-chancellor Roger Field says he has instigated an investigation and will be taking appropriate action based on the disciplinary regulations. He says the actions fall short of acceptable behaviour and the university is taking the matter seriously.
The Students Association says just a small number caused offence by wearing 'grossly inappropriate' costumes.
Association president Megan Harte says the party should not be seen as symbolic of behaviour at Lincoln University.
The Jewish Council says any parody of the Holocaust or Nazi party shows stupidity and poor taste.
