Problems with domestic violence support cited by group

A group of domestic violence survivors say women leaving violent relationships face a series of bureaucratic, financial and practical obstacles.

A report issued on Thursday highlights problems with the way the Domestic Violence Act is applied.

The group told Nine to Noon that victims face a legal maze through the justice system, financial pressures imparted by Inland Revenue and a society which does not understand domestic violence.

The group intends to talk with the Ministers of Social Development and Justice.
