A city of tents made of cloth shot through with gold, fountains spouting red and white wine, crumpets galore to feed the crowds – and music fit for kings.
2020 marks the 500th anniversary of the Field of Cloth of Gold, a remarkable political summit and meeting of the two greatest kings of the age: Francis I of France and England's King Henry VIII.
Wellington choir The Tudor Consort will be bringing the musical aspect of this spectacular event to life this weekend. They're presenting of a concert of music that may have been performed at the historic occasion, featuring works by composers Jean Mouton, Claudin de Sermisy, Robert Fayrfax and King Henry VIII himself.
