Anita Austin has been Principal Horn in the Auckland Youth Orchestra and NZSO National Youth Orchestra, and recently completed her Masters at the Queensland Conservatorium.
Taking control of her own career as a freelance French horn player, Anita has developed several concert options that she's taking around New Zealand's rest homes and retirement villages.
Programmes include music for unaccompanied horn and complementary poetry, and 'French Horn Karaoke' where the audience is given a list of over 100 songs and they get to call out requests.
Upbeat asked Anita how the idea came about, and what the reception's been like.
