Jon Pirini is a guitarist and music teacher who has worked in cities from London to Kiev.
Back home in New Zealand, and feeling that he’d achieved all he could without further study, he enrolled Victoria University of Wellington’s NZ School of music, studying jazz.
Jon is now based in his home town of Kaitaia, teaching music at Kaitaia College.
In August, just before lockdown Jon launched Te Hiku Music Academy - a pilot project designed to take music into primary schools in the Far North.
Jon talked to Upbeat about this ambitious new venture.
