Simon Morris reviews three movies with international flavours – a Danish documentary about an Afghani refugee, a Kosovo drama, and an American film based on a French play.

 

 

Cyrano sees Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) take the role of the poet and soldier who helps his rival woo the woman he loves.  Directed by Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride and Prejudice).

 

Flee is an innovative Danish film about escaping Afghanistan 25 years ago.  It’s up for three Academy Awards this year - Best International Film, Best Documentary and Best Animated Feature.

 

And Hive tells the true story of a group of war widows in a village in Kosovo attempting to go into business, despite the objections of the local men.
