AT THE MOVIES #900    I’M NOT AN ACTOR, I’M A MOVIE STAR!

Simon Morris looks at three movies where the story is the point, not the star.  All but one…

The Wonder is set in the Nineteenth Century.  A nurse is brought to Ireland to confirm that a young girl is staying alive miraculously.  Stars Florence Pugh (Lady Macbeth) and directed by Sebastián Lelio (Gloria Bell).

All quiet on the Western Front is the first German adaptation of the famous novel about World War One.  Produced by and featuring Daniel Brühl (Good bye Lenin), it’s currently showing on Netflix.

And My policeman, available on Prime Video, is the story of a fraught romance, over a forty-year period, with an interesting cast.   It stars Emma Corrin (The Crown), David Dawson (The last empire), and in the title role Linus Roache (Mandy) and pop star Harry Styles (Dunkirk).
