Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu RSE workers to be allowed into NZ

RSE workers from Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu will soon be allowed into the country, quarantine free.

Jacinda Ardern says there would normally be 10,000 RSE workers in New Zealand to help with the summer season.

But she says because of the border closure the horticulture sector is thousands of workers short and Cabinet's hope is this arrangement will ease the pressure.

Ardern said the risk that comes with opening the corridor is very low and workers would be tested when they arrive.
