Lockdown announcement too late in day - EMA boss

The doors have slammed shut at tens of thousands of businesses around Aotearoa with the country now in Covid-19 Alert Level 4 lockdown.

Once again, the wage subsidy will be on offer to employers which have a 40 percent drop in revenue, with applications opening on Friday.

Employers and Manufacturers Association CEO Brett O'Riley told Checkpoint he will be talking to the government about it's 6pm announcement of lockdown yesterday.

"It would have been much more ideal if an announcement could have been made mid-afternoon just so people could have planned, knowing that they were going to be having to work from home.
