Police are looking at the phone and bank records of missing King Country man Thomas Phillips as the search for him and his three children continues.
The family has not been seen since Saturday night and today the search's focus turned to the sea.
Surf lifesavers using inflatable boats and a jetski have been out searching the rugged coastline inaccessible to land searchers.
