John Hart confident NZ Open will go ahead in 2023

The New Zealand Open has been chopped into the rough, with the golf tournament organisers having to pull pin under the red light.

NZ Open chairman John Hart told Checkpoint he has had “some fantastic responses” from sponsors and players looking forward to the golf tournament going ahead in 2023.

“All our major sponsors … six of them are international and three or four of them are New Zealand. And without doubt every one of them has rolled over their commitment to 2023.

“We've had so many texts today, from pros around the world, in Asia, particularly in Australia, who are gutted that the tournament's not on because they really love coming to Queenstown.

“They love coming to this particular event, because it's been one that really looks after the people that are in the tournament. So I'm very confident that even though we've had two years gap, in 2023 we'll have a strong field and an exciting tournament.”
