The sudden success of Erny Belle

From Music 101, 2:40 pm on 28 May 2022

Erny Belle recorded her country and folk-tinged album Venus is Home at her dad’s studio in Maungatūroto, where she lived for two and a half years. She released it independently, getting rave re-views and glowing profiles in outlets like The Spinoff, Pantograph Punch, and RNZ’s The Sampler, as well as making the cover of Viva.

Her real name is Aimee Renata, and she’s now based back in her birthplace of Tāmaki Makaurau, so Tony Stamp visited her to chat about Venus is Home, and suddenly finding herself under the spot-light of the music press.
