Trainee doctor Emma Espiner was in the thick of the first COVID-19 Lock down in March of this year - her final exam was cancelled, and she worked as a trainee intern at Auckland Hospital. What this pandemic showed was the swift action taken by the government to ensure the country was kept safe - Emma however says the response also underlines a lack of urgency and chronic under-resourcing when it comes to Maori health. How does it reflect the broader themes of equity and racism that have run through this series of Getting Better?
