From The Panel, 4:32 pm on 22 December 2014

Topics - christmas no.1s ain't what they used to be; they're mainly X-Factor winners these days, aside from "Wherever You Are" by the Military Wives a few years ago. Star Trek, the original Star Trek's five-year mission, boldly going where no man has gone before etcetera, has resumed. StarTrek with William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy on the bridge, only got three years, and now crowd-funding, the Kickstarter site, has allowed fans, Trekkies, to continue filming where the first Captain Kirk and his crew left off. In tandem with skills shortages being noted today all over NZ as manufacturing and service sector growth increases, in the south especially, an article in the Harvard Business Review discusses "The Second Economy". The 2nd Economy is the term used to describe that part the economy where computers transact business only with other computers. It's upon us now. Facebook's popularity among teens has dipped again. The portion of 13 to 17-year-old social-media users in the United States on Facebook slipped to 88 per cent this year, down from 94 per cent in 2013 and 95 per cent in 2012.
