Banning gang patches

There's a renewed call to ban gang patches. This time it's from National's Justice spokesman Mark Mitchell who says people are intimidated by the patches. But Sociologist Jarrod Gilbert says Mr Mitchell doesn't know what he's talking about. Mr Gilbert says getting rid of gang insignia won't reduce crime and that members of the public at least can identify a gang menber and avoid them when they're patched.
