The Panel with Chris Gallavin and Tess Nichol (Part 2)

From The Panel, 4:05 pm on 13 February 2019

Question of the Day: what lolly was a childhood fave? Mondelez is slashing the size of its Pascall packets of lollies - we're talking jet planes, wine gums, jubes and mint imperials by 25 percent. But the price is only dropping 15 percent. It comes after the outrage over the size of its family size chocolate blocks, and the half-shaped marshmallow eggs. The panelists weigh in on this pressing issue. Journalist Greer Berry has penned a piece saying driving on the beach is a step too far, and asking why we allow beaches to be classed as roads. She doesn't oppose access to the beach for boaties and the like, just the disruption a car drivign on a beach can have. The panelists tell us what they think about it. The Government proposed today merging all 16 polytechnics into a single national institution. Education Minister Chris Hipkins says this will radically reform the organisations, in the face of of falling enrolments and multi-million dollar deficits. We speak to Josh Williams, chief executive of the Industry Training Federation about the proposal. One in ten kiwis are vegetarian or at least mostly meat-free. The Better Futures report released today shows the number of vegetarians has risen steadily since 2014. The country's Vegetarian society says people are hoping to reduce emissions by eating less meat or switching to meat alternatives. The panelists tell us if they've been trying to limit their consumption.
