A new poll indicates that Maori Party co-leader Pita Sharples is on track to hold the seat of Tamaki Makaurau in this election.

The Te Karere Digipoll has Dr Sharples on 58%, and Labour Party candidate Shane Jones on 23% support and Mana Party candidate Kereama Pene on 14%.

In the party vote, there is a more even split between the Labour and Maori parties, with Labour on 32% and the Maori Party on 28%.

Dr Sharples won the Auckland seat in 2008 with a majority of 7540.

The poll of 400 voters from the Maori roll was taken over the last three weeks of October and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9%.
