The Labour Party says it would reinstate $700,000 worth of funding a year to Women's Refuge.
Labour says the National-led Government has cut $382,000 from the funding for safe houses and $300,000 in contracts for family violence co-ordinators and child advocates.
Leader Phil Goff made the announcement at the National Collective of Independent Women's Refuges in central Wellington on Monday.
Mr Goff says Women's Refuge is a vital frontline service to protect and children from violence in the home.
He says it is unfair to cut funding from the most vulnerable members of the community, while at the same time giving massive tax cuts to the most wealthy.
Mr Goff says the number of women needing help from Women's Refuge has increased by 12% in the past year.
