National Party leader John Key is on a two-day bus tour of the North Island on the final days of the campaign as he makes his last push to get his party's message across to voters.
[image:3870:half:right]The tour began on Thursday morning and was taking Mr Key from Wellington to Auckland.
Starting at Wellington Railway Station, Mr Key had a quick chat to commuters before hopping on the party bus to make his way up the North Island.
His second stop was in Paraparaumu where Radio New Zealand's reporter said he received a lukewarm response from shoppers at a Pak'n Save supermarket.
Mr Key stocked up on lollies for the intensive two-day trip which will take in several electorates, including his second visit in a month to New Plymouth.
The National Party leader will stop at shopping malls, supermarkets and cafes to canvas as many people as he can.
Mr Key said it was not logistically possible to have the bus in the South Island on the two final campaign days, but he had been in Christchurch, Dunedin, Queenstown and Invercargill earlier in the week.
He said he is finishing the first day of his tour in New Plymouth because it is the most marginal seat in the country.
