The Maori Party will be making a decision in coming weeks about who will take over its leadership as the current co-leaders consider retirement.
[image:3987:third:right]Tariana Turia and Pita Sharples have both said they will not stand at the next election.
The only other MP in the party is Te Ururoa Flavell, though he will not comment on whether he wants the leadership.
Maori Party co-vice president Ken Mair told Radio New Zealand's Morning Report on Friday it is looking at the various options for succession and will put these to its people, who will make the final decision.
Mr Mair says that will happen in the next couple of weeks.
The Maori Party's constitution requires a man and a woman to be co-leaders.
